The Shop At Peacock
In Peacock, a wonderful woman named June Carlson used to run a little antique store. There isn't much in Peacock these days, so her place was about the only happening thing going on there.
I painted some Morning Glories on the building, and taught some art classes, hoping to get her some business.
The building used to be a Spanish-Speaking Church, pastored by Ray Flores. When I first moved to Texas in 2001, we attended the services there and it was wonderful.
It's a quaint little shop, full of unique items from around these here parts, and they served a wonderful luncheon, with the savory cooking done by June Clark of Peacock. It's a place you should visit if you come through West Texas. June had many wonderful stories about her Uncle Joe Matthews who was a character around there for many years.
